T20 TIME 2012

So it's here again. A month of carnage is upon us. T20, the time when the crowds come in the ground, and the ball disappears out of it.

Who will come out on top this year?

Every player, coach, and of course spectator will have their own opinions on how best to approach the fast and frenetic game. Personally I feel it's the team who have made clear and simple plans with the bat and the ball, and then of course those who perform the plans consistently when the pressure is really on, who will come out on top.

This season at Derbyshire CCC confidence is high. We have a real feeling amongst the camp that we can have a real crack at the tournament this year. With some good cricket, a good crowd behind us, and of course some lady luck along the way, we can most certainly make a push at getting out of our tough group. If we manage that then who knows how far we can go.

All the preparation has been done. We've talked as a group, practiced extremely well, and also managed some match practice before our first outing.

So what are our plans this year I hear you ask..??

Well obviously I can't give that away at the minute. But the batsmen have all talked amongst themselves and with the coaches and have a strategy in place on which way to attack the game. As bowlers, we too have come up with our plans. Plan A is in place, and if the batsmen knocks us off that plan then we have plan B & C ready to go as a back up. You have to be that prepared these days. Of course saying that, if you end up at plan Z then you know it's been a tough 4 overs.

This week I have closely been watching our new acquisition for the T20. The legend that is Rana Naved. It's a pleasure to have him in the camp this year, he's a top performer and respected in cricket world wide. We are so fortunate to be able to pick his brains, learn from his approach to T20, how he bowls his variations, and of course how he bowls that Yorker at the death. I can't wait to see him in a Falcons shirt this season.

We are a young and energetic fielding side. Our approach of 'fearless cricket' has got us so far already this year, and these two words are certainly going to be in our minds when we take to the field to begin the campaign. Always trust that whatever happens we wear the shirt with pride and give 100% every time. That commitment, our 'fearless' approach, and that little bit of lady luck, can make us real competitors this year.

Let's go...Here comes the BOOM!!!
